Courtney [Only accepting KAP clients] is the Practice Owner, Clinical Supervisor, and a Trauma and Couples Specialist at Rise & Mind. She holds a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University and is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Somatic Therapy, EMDR, Ketamine-Assisted Therapy, and the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy. With a decade of experience working in nonprofit settings, Courtney has served diverse and underserved populations, including migrants and individuals navigating significant challenges such as criminal justice involvement and mental illness.
Courtney’s therapeutic approach is structured and effective, designed to support individuals not only in healing but also in fostering lasting lifestyle changes that enhance overall well-being and fulfillment. From serious mental health diagnoses and trauma to work stress, relational dysfunction, and life dissatisfaction, her work is client-centered, collaborative, and integrative. Courtney is personable and skilled at creating a safe space where clients can freely express their innermost fears and desires. She also brings humor into her sessions, helping to lighten the the work and make the process feel more approachable.
Courtney’s own experience with complex PTSD and suicidality, particularly following the loss of her father to ALS, has deeply influenced her work. The loss triggered symptoms of fatigue, a loss of joy, and recurring nightmares, but through her own healing journey—using EMDR and Ketamine-Assisted Therapy—she was able to regain clarity and connection. Her personal experience led her to open Rise & Mind, with a focus on providing these transformative therapies in a way that encourages lifestyle changes. Courtney believes we need to create lives where rest and connection are possible—where we can heal outside the pressures of a capitalist society that often leaves us anxious and unappreciated.
When she’s not working, Courtney is a dog lover and enjoys stretching every morning with her two dogs, Charlie and Milo. Inspired by the book Being a Dog: A Tail of Mindfulness, she follows their lead to embrace mindfulness in simple, joyful ways..

Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who are used to holding a lot together for others while struggling to feel grounded themselves. They may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, disconnected from themselves, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or unsure how to create lasting change despite appearing high-functioning on the outside. Therapy can be a space to slow down, better understand yourself, and build a more sustainable relationship with your emotions, relationships, and daily life.
I believe therapy works best when you feel supported, motivated, and curious.
My goal is to provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can gain clarity about what’s going on for you while building practical tools you can confidently use outside of sessions. I want you to leave therapy feeling more grounded, self-aware, and capable of navigating challenges independently.
Clients often describe me as calm, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel genuinely heard and understood while also supported in making meaningful changes.
My approach balances emotional insight with practical problem solving. Together, we may explore relationship dynamics, family patterns, identity, burnout, caregiving stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, perfectionism, or the impact of constantly feeling responsible for others. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel both compassionately supported and gently challenged toward growth.
Personal understanding of experiences related to chronic illness, caregiving, schizophrenia/psychosis, and depression allow me to approach this work with empathy, nuance, and respect for the complexity of people’s lives.
I am queer-friendly, ENM/poly-friendly, and affirming of diverse identities and relationship structures. I especially enjoy working with adults navigating burnout, relationship stress, identity exploration, life transitions, and the challenge of balancing ambition, responsibility, and emotional well-being.
My hope is that our work together helps you build insight, coping tools, supportive relationships, and internal resources that continue supporting you long after sessions end.
